Aer Lingus - Fleet

The Aer Lingus fleet consists of 48 aircraft operating both short and long-haul routes. In December 2016 the average age of Aer Lingus fleet was 12 years. Young airline fleet is a big plus as it can provide passengers with more comfort and greater safety as well as decreases the risk of accidents.

In 1994 the Irish carrier replaced its older aircraft with machines manufactured by Airbus. The majority of the fleet (33 planes) is made up of Airbus A320-200. It was the first commercial airliner to feature digital fly-by-wire flight control system. Airbus is used also by other well-known airlines, such as easyJet, Air France, Lufthansa, or Wizz Air.

Aer Lingus constantly modernizes its aircraft fleet. In 2018, it will take delivery of the first Airbus A350, and another three aircraft are expected to be delivered per year through to 2020.
